Linda Robinson Boyes

Linda Robinson Boyes was born is southern California, and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. As a young girl, she rode her bike in the hills, orange groves and on country roads in the wide open spaces. Since then, she’s been drawn to the outdoors and nature. Her husband John has three children living in Hawaii, New York and Spokane, and Linda has a son living in Albuquerque and a daughter in San Diego. Together they have six grandchildren! Needless to say visiting their kids takes them to wonderful places as well as their second home in Colorado. Linda is a retired nurse and full time glass artist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her studio where she works and teaches is in the North Valley. The wide open spaces, vivid blue sky and amazing vistas are all inspiring. She enjoys hiking, camping and skiing with family and friends. One year has turned into over 20 years. She is home. The 34 years in technical areas of nursing inspired and challenged her in many unexpected ways that ultimately became invaluable tools for problem solving and technical firing schedules. She has always marveled at the fluidity, translucency and colors of glass, and began her glass fusing her glass fusing journey by taking classes from UNM on the basics of fusing glass. She was hooked from the first class and soon bought a kiln and started kiln-forming her own designs in glass. Now she has several kilns and cold-working equipment. She studied many books by glass artists and became fascinated by cutting, designing and fusing her own designs. The successes were exhilarating and the pieces that didn’t work set those problem solving opportunities into motion learning a little more about
what happened, and how to change firing schedules depending on in size, thickness, colors, and interactions of the glass. Over the years she’s taken many workshops and classes from artists such as Patty Gray and Lisa Vogt. She’s been juried into shows in New Mexico, Arizona, California and Colorado. Her studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico is where she works as a full time artist and also teaches beginning, Intermediate and advanced classes. The studio is filled with kilns, water tile/glass saws ( to make the pattern bars), work tables, grinders, lots of “essential” equipment and of course racks of beautiful glass, ground glass, rods, and strips, oh, “so fun”! She participates in Studio Tours such as The Corrales Art Studio Tour and Alameda Studio Tour and several art shows (see upcoming events). Her work is currently being shown at Weem’s Art Gallery in Albuquerque and Two Old Crows in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
