Bringing fresh energy to traditional Celtic music, Jordan was first recognized as part of New Hampshire’s musical culture at the age of 12, when he was the youngest member of the delegation representing the state in Washington, D.C. for The Smithsonian Folklife Festival. He grew up on a combination of contra dances and Celtic music, releasing multiple recordings and performing regularly around the state until leaving for college in Middlebury, VT. After graduating, Jordan spent time in both New York City and Ireland, exploring musical possibilities and honing his craft. He then began to carve out a career for himself back home in NH, touring with multiple rock bands while continuing to develop his unique approach to traditional Celtic music. In 2012 Jordan released Into The Cold, an all-original record drawing on multiple genres held together by the thread of Celtic fiddle melodies. The record has been described as “hauntingly beautiful” and “an instrumental coming-of-age story.” Shortly after the release, he formed The Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki Trio by recruiting Matthew Jensen and Chris Noyes, from Into The Cold, to perform with him around New England. In 2013 New Hampshire’s Traditional Arts Council named him a Master Artist. In 2015, the trio released their first record, Return To The Castle, which represents a return to more traditional roots. While it incorporates several fresh original pieces, the entirely acoustic, instrumental record is stacked with traditional favorites ranging from haunting waltzes to foot-stomping reels and was described as “Bright, crisp and energetic” by The Boston Irish Reporter. Jordan was one of the founding members of JamAntics (“Best Jam Band” NH Magazine, 2010, “Best Original Band” The Hippo, 2011) and was also a member of the Dusty Gray Band (“Best Roots Act”, New England Music Awards, 2015). He currently plays with several groups including Celtic/maritime band Great Bay Sailor in addition to The Jordan TW Trio. He is a member of the house band at Rocking Horse Studio (“Best Recording Studio”, NH Magazine, 2012) and can be heard on dozens of recordings
including projects with Garth Hudson of The Band. With various groups, he has opened for Irish music legends Tommy Makem, Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfetones, country superstars such as Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels and Uncle Kracker, and classic rockers Blues Traveler, The Marshall Tucker Band and Little Feat. He has toured nationally with the Adam Ezra Group (winner of five New England Music Awards) and appeared as a guest musician with other nationally touring bands including The Mallett Brothers, Yarn, The Lost Trailers, Roots of Creation and Hot Day At The Zoo. Jordan was named “Best Fiddler” by NH Magazine in 2016. He continues to perform more than 200 shows a year with various bands, mostly in the Northeast.
