Cale Moon

What is it that attracts people to the music of rising country star, Cale Moon? Is it the shock factor of having a voice that sounds many years beyond his age? Or is it his prolific song writing that is equally as deep and rich, and shows wisdom and emotion far beyond his years? Maybe it’s that pure, down home, honest smile, and contagious personality that is so inviting, that people just can’t resist? Whatever “it” is, Cale Moon seems to have more than his share of “it”.
Who would have believed, back in 2009 when Cale started learning the guitar, that just a few years later, he would be a full time country artist, living on the road, his family sacrificing their home, to help Cale pursue his dream? How does someone go from learning the guitar, to writing over 150 songs, and performing over 400 times, and releasing 2 albums in such a short time? Well let me tell you some of the highlights.
In 2009, at the age of 15, Cale was chosen to be on Team USA, to compete at the World Championships Of Performing Arts. He competed in acting, modeling, and singing competitions. To be able to perform one of his own original songs that he had just written, he needed to learn the guitar, to be able to accompany himself. With only two and a half months to prepare, it seemed like a long shot. With hard work and dedication, Cale did everything he could to be prepared for that event, and prepared he was. Cale was chosen to be in the finals in 2 categories, acting and vocals. Receiving 7 Gold Medals, 5 Silver Medals, and 2 Bronze Medals, as well as the glass star for Jr. World Champion Actor. A very unlikely start, but that is what headed Cale in the direction he is still heading today.
In February of 2010, thanks to his manager at the time, Patrick Hart, Cale was given an opportunity of a lifetime, to co-write with renowned song writers Steve Dorff and Bobby Tomberlin. From that experience, came the song “A Country Song”. The rest of the year was spent between performing, writing songs, and school.
2011 was a banner year in Cale’s career. It started January 1st, cutting his first Demo at Rainmaker Studios in Kennewick, Washington. A few months later, Cale recorded his first full length album “The Beginning” with Brook Floyd, and Joe Smart, at Rainmaker Studios. “The Beginning” released on April 27th of 2011. Within a couple of weeks, he started receiving calls from people in Nashville, wanting Cale to come and talk to them, so within a month, he was in Nashville.
While in Nashville, thanks to “Big Bear” (Barry Long) from KORD 102.7 in Pasco WA, Cale met with Fred Vail, owner of Treasure Isle Recorders in Nashville, which started a friendship that would bring more people and opportunities in Cale’s life.
Thanks to some incredible people that invested in Cale, and Fred Vail, of Treasure Isle Recorders in Nashville, he was able to record his album “True Love Waits” in October of 2011. Eight of the ten songs on this album were written by Cale, and with musicians like lead guitarist Chris Leuzinger, drummer Chad Cromwell, pianist Tim Lauer, acoustic guitarist B James Lowrey, Bassist Dave Pomeroy, guitarist George Marinelli, and the steel guitar and dobro of Dan Dugmore, it is no accident that it turned out so incredible!
While in Nashville recording, Cale also had the honor of singing 2 of his original songs for the live broadcast of the Nashville Cowboy Church, at the Texas Troubadour Theatre. In the midst of all of this, Cale continued to perform and write songs at an incredible pace.
In 2012, while waiting on his album to release, Cale continued to write even more of his incredible songs, and continued to perform wherever he was invited. Most of which were as a returning artist. Venues such as the Pendleton Round Up, Central Washington State Fair, Yakima Valley Fair and Rodeo, Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo, Watermelon Festival, and many others.
In August, he was invited to be one of the performers at the first annual Watershed Country Music Festival, at the famous Gorge Amphitheatre which is now the West’s largest country music festival. In the fall of 2012, Cale and his family (dad, mom, and sister) started making decisions and planning for what would be a huge step, and not one that many are willing to make.
As 2013 started, the Moon’s home sold after just 9 days on the market, and after closing, in March of 2013, the home of Cale Moon and his family, would be a motorhome….. and the location……will be greatly determined by the event schedule that he will be performing.
