Brad Everett Cawyer

Brad Everett Cawyer is emerging as a passionate and solid conductor following extensive training in Russia. Praised for the deep-founded musicianship that is evident in his clear and engaging style, his affable approach to working with orchestras inspires an atmosphere uplifting to performers and audience alike. Recently selected to be Music Director and Conductor of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, in recent seasons Cawyer has been active internationally—making his debut in Asia, conducting the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Mongolia—and working as a cover conductor for major American orchestras—such as assisting Maestro Hans Graf in the Houston Symphony Orchestra’s long-awaited semi-staged production of Alban Berg’s Wozzeck. A native of Dallas, Cawyer conducts opera and orchestra, premiering new works for ensemble and for chamber orchestra, collaborating with composers of many cultures.
In 2010, he created the Contemporary East & West International Music Festival (St. Petersburg) to foster transnational collaboration in that multicultural city. His debut at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic led to an invitation to be the conductor for the Saint Petersburg-based new music ensemble SOUNDWAYS. Before moving to St. Petersburg, Cawyer established the Texas A&M University orchestra, directing the ensemble for three seasons. Cawyer completed his studies as a Conductor of Opera and Symphony Orchestra at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where his teacher was Alexander Alexeev.
