Tricia Strickfaden is passionate about painting, and is drawn to abstract expressionist modern art. Born in Iowa, but raised in the Dallas, TX area, Strickfaden has always been artistic. She studied Interior Design and Art at Stephen F. Austin State University, falling in love with the study of art, interiors, architecture and art history. Strickfaden moved to the LA area at age 21, and later married a South Bay native. She worked in commercial interior design for several years, and then moved on to a residential design business. Her background in modern design and interiors is evident in her work with her use of color palettes, and implementation of line, shape and form. Primarily self-taught, she has been painting professionally since 2000. Her studio is in Manhattan Beach, CA.
She currently shows her work at local charity auctions and art events, and galleries across the country. She has shown her work at the Long Beach Museum of Art, sold original paintings on One Kings Lane, and sells select reproductions of her pieces with Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma Home. She displayed her work at the 2013 Coastal Living Showhouse in Daniel Island, SC, and has been published in Coastal Living and South Bay Magazines. Strickfaden constantly studies modern design, color, and art to inspire her paintings. She looks for inspiration in the beauty of everyday life.
