Surrender All

Surrender All is a Christian rock band that believes in the healing power of Christ, by what his willing sacrifice did on the cross. The band started out in an addiction recovery group at Live Oak United Methodist Church in Watson La. The recovery group is called “Refuge”, meeting every Thursday night at 7 O’clock under the leadership of Pastor Sam Lobello. A band was started, called the “refuge band” which mostly consisted of members of the refuge recovery group. They played a wide range of covers in youth groups and rehab centers. They realized that one of the newest members of the band had an incredible talent as a musician/songwriter and in the process started writing their own songs. Lead by James McKay, who did the songwriting and musical direction of the band they released their 1st album under the name “refuge band” called Free Indeed. The record was launched with a cd release concert and the wheels were turning. Unfortunately the year 2,016 was a year of many trials for south Louisiana. There was a division in Baton Rouge from an incident involving an individual and 2 law officers that resulted in riot and chaos all over the city. Mark 3.25 says, If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. On July 17, 2016, Gavin Eugene Long shot six police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the wake of the shooting of Alton Sterling. Three died and three were hospitalized, one critically; of the officers who died, two were members of the Baton Rouge Police Department, while the third worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. This event was devastating to our community. Surrender All was blessed to perform for a fundraiser at Florida Blv. Baptist Church in Baton Rouge to raise money for the fallen officers families. Shortly after this there was a devastating flood that caused 1000’s to lose their homes and businesses, which would take years to recover. It has become obvious to the band that life is about more than playing music but it’s about people. Having been started from a addiction/recovery group our hearts reach out to those that battle addiction. Surviving one of the most intense floods in the history of the state, we realize the importance of new beginnings. This year they will release their 2nd Album under the name Surrender All. They are starting over with a new and refreshing sound that can be enjoyed at festivals and venues in the area. Surrender All hopes to see you there!!
