Soprano Janet Stone is a Boston-based performer who is gaining musical ground within the city and beyond. As soloist, Janet has recently performed J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Cantata 140: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, G.F. Handel’s Messiah, Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, and Benjamin Britten’s The Company of Heaven. She is a singer on staff and frequent soloist at Trinity Church, Copley Square, under directors Richard Webster and Colin Lynch and has sung at many additional parishes in the Boston area. Janet also performs with multiple professional vocal ensembles, including Skylark Ensemble, Handel and Haydn Society, The Henry Purcell Society of Boston, and Cappella Clausura, and has performed in house concerts hosted through the online social media platform, Groupmuse. Recording credits include Exultet Terra: Choral Music of Hilary Tann with Cappella Clausura, and Seven Last Words with Skylark Ensemble, released on the GRAMMY Award-winning Sono Luminus label.
Janet is an avid fan of American contemporary music, recently performing a recital in collaboration with Chicago-based composer Joseph Meland. She has also performed premier works by local composers Richard Webster, Elena Ruehr, Patricia Van Ness, and Adam Jacob Simon. Janet grew up singing at Grace Episcopal Church and performing in the Madison Opera Chorus in Madison, Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelors of Music degree (2011) at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Previous teachers include: Jane Ferris, Margie Marrs, Tara Warfield, and Jessica Timman. She is currently studying with Sonja Tengblad.
