Meaghan Guterman is a professional soprano and voice teacher in the Seattle area. Since relocating in May 2016, she has been serving as a section leader and cantor at St. James Cathedral, teaching voice, piano, and rhythm lessons, and recently began her DMA studies at the University of Washington. Meaghan will be taking February and March 2018 off to concentrate on being a new mother, but will resume teaching in April, and will be giving her first recital in partial fulfillment of DMA requirements in May 2018. ?During her time in Milwaukee, Meaghan maintained a busy performance schedule along with running her private studio. She was a section leader, soloist, and cantor at the Basilica of St. Josaphat for the past three years, sang with the Milwaukee Chamber Choir, Collegium Ladyes, MacDowell Club, and regularly collaborated on chamber music with the East Side Chamber Players. Recent solo performances included repertoire ranging from Schumann to Jeanine Tesori’s “The Girl in 14G.” Onstage roles in the past year were Mrs. Nordstrom in “A Little Night Music,” and Auntie Em/Glinda in “The Wizard of Oz.”
?Additional engagements have included singing with Vocalise and Chorosynthesis in the Seattle area, and serving as a cantorial soloist for Yom Kippur in 2017. While in Milwaukee, Meaghan also found joy in tutoring B’nai Mitzvah students at Congregation Sinai in Fox Point, and singing in the Hazzan’s concert for two years at Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid in Glendale. She was a soloist at several Shabbat services at Congregation Shalom in 2016, and was the soprano section leader for their High Holiday choir for five years. In her free time, Meaghan enjoys exploring Seattle (particularly the ice cream shops), hiking, enjoying views of Mt. Rainier, running, cooking, yoga, traveling with her husband, and reading.
