Marlena’s career as a singer began in school in Milford, NH, where she passionately enjoyed singing, piano, accordion, xylophone & harmonica. She was active in every choral and band group the schools offered. She earned top spots every year in AllState and All-Eastern Seaboard Choir, band & chorus, winning #1 Alto position in NH AllState Choir 1984. She traveled & sang extensively with the Showstoppers Orchestra & Show Band throughout the mid eighties, and recently rejoined them for their final show in 2012. Marlena was awarded a full tuition scholarship to the UMKC Conservatory of Music, and majored in voice and piano. At UMKC, she was chosen for Select Jazz Choir under the direction of Eve Mae Pisciotta and recorded an album with the choir in 1985. At UMass Lowell, she majored in Music Business and took voice and sound recording classes. In addition to completing a Bachelor’s in Psychology at UNH, Marlena continued her music studies with the best private vocal teachers she could find in Boston, singing full time for 25+ years, and still going strong. Marlena’s commercial jingles and original songs have been aired on the radio, she has worked as a studio session singer, taught privately, and sung most styles of music in several bands. In the mid nineties, Marlena wrote and recorded her own album of original music called Fantasy. She recently served as a judge on the Bedford Rotary Idol contest. Now, with 3 growing children, and living back in her native Milford, NH, Marlena continues her tradition of leaving her guests at every show “happier than she found them”. It’s her goal to give everyone a great time, custom-tailoring the music to her audience, based on their minute-to-minute reactions.
