Laura Ford

I’m Laura Ford, a Midwestern native who has fully adopted sunny Southern California as home. I’ve been living in Los Angeles since 2013, and have happily kissed winter boots and snow shovels goodbye forever! One of the things I love most about the state of California is that the variety in its landscapes is matched only by the diversity of the people living within its borders. Los Angeles is a multicultural mecca, and I love seeing all of the different ways of life coexisting here. My clients and their weddings reflect this range as well – I’ve photographed desert ceremonies, mountaintop celebrations, warehouse weddings, oceanside I-do’s, vineyard vows, and many more! From weekday elopements, to muti-day extravaganzas, they’ve all had their unique charms. I began photographing weddings in 2011, and made it my full-time gig in 2013. My time at art school and my experience in the hospitality industry helped build a great foundation for this career. Though the ultimate goal on any wedding day is to capture beautiful memories, I believe that the interaction and experience I provide to my client, their families and their guests is equally important. I make it a high priority to earnestly connect with my clients, gain their trust, and help them feel comfortable in front of a camera. This paves the way for us to create photos that really remind you of the way you felt on your wedding day!
As far as aesthetic goes, my photos are bright, cheerful, and thoughtfully composed. I love to integrate a perfect dose of color whenever possible. My style has been described as both photojournalistic and editorial. I’m equally comfortable documenting candid moments, as I am art directing and guiding my couples though posed photos. And though there are many elements that must come together to create captivating portraits, the process is an organic one and can be more fun than most would imagine. When I’m not photographing weddings you can find me hiking in Griffith Park with my fiancé Neil, wandering though antique stores, hanging out with my sister and her two goofy rescue pups, playing euchre with neighbors or grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s.
