Laura Ball

Laura Ball is the founder and creative director of the UNED!TED and Classical Sundays concert series in Charleston, SC, as well as the resident arranger and pianist for the ATLAS trio. Equally at home in both the classical and contemporary repertoires, Ball believes in building bridges through sound. She is an active teacher, music director, composer and performer known for her innovative collaborations across musical genres and champions the performance of new chamber music works. Miss Ball is an alumna of Goddard College where she received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts.
A committed member and promoter of the local professional music scene, Miss Ball serves as the Director of Music Ministries at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Johns Island, SC) where she oversees eight musical ensembles and curates the Classical Sundays music series – free concerts for the community featuring exceptional soloists and chamber artists in an inspirational setting. As an educator, Miss Ball works as an artist in residence in local schools, performs with Chamber Music Charleston in the Classical Kids series, and is the music director for the Village Repertory Company’s Teen Troupe.
In collaboration with the Cooper School, Ball is working with regional and local poets to create a new songbook ofpoetry and contemporary folk music for school children – the M.A.P. Project (Musical Anthology of Poetry). This innovative musical curriculum features works by contemporary and living poets in original musical settings that teach vocabulary, music theory and encourage discussion of social issues and current history for the next generation. The M.A.P. Project will debut in spring of 2018. Ball has composed four original ballet scores for Charleston’s Ballet Evolution, co-created three modern dance works with choreographer Kristin Alexander of Annex Dance Company, and premiered new works by renowned Steinway artist and composer Dr. Karen Walwyn. Most recently, Miss Ball has been commissioned to compose the Mass commemorating the Bicentennial celebration for the Diocese of Charleston in May 2020.
