Jenny Stulberg

Jenny Stulberg is a dance artist and filmmaker based in San Francisco, CA. Recent performances include works by Trisha Brown, Hope Mohr Dance, Xandra Ibarra/La Chica Boom, and her ongoing collaborative series of Still Life Dances with creative partner Lauren Simpson. In 2017, Simpson/Stulberg Collaborations was nominated for two Isadora Duncan Dance Awards in both choreography and performance, in addition to being selected as mentees for Margret Jenkins’ CHIME 2017 (Choreographers in Mentorship Exchange). Their work has received funding through The Zellerbach Family Foundation, CA$H Grant, and The Rainin Opportunity Fund, as well as commissions from The University of Utah, Bare Bait Dance Company (Montana), FACT/SF, and The University of San Francisco. Her solo choreography has been commissioned by the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program. Jenny is drawn to the intimacy of both dance and film and inspired by the relationship between these moving mediums. Her dance-films have been accepted into festivals across the country, including San Francisco Dance Film Festival, ADF International Screendance Festival, Tiny Dance Film Festival and Dance Camera West, to name a few. Her film-work has been contracted by major companies in California and New York such as Joe Goode Performance Group, BANDALOOP, Scott Wells & Dancers, GERALDCASELDANCE, Ellis Wood Dance, Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance, and New York City Ballet. Film collaborations include works with Paul Galando, Lauren Finerman and Kerry Laitala. Jenny teaches Digital Dance in the MFA program at Saint Mary’s College, as well as contemporary dance technique around the Bay Area. She comes from a strong somatic and functional fitness background and loves blending these movement modalities in both her technique and fitness classes. She received her M.F.A. in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a specialization in Choreography/Performance and Dance on Film, and B.F.A. in Dance from Western Michigan University.
