American painter, Donna Bruni, creates abstract oil paintings that reference places known, remembered or imagined, suspended within layered surfaces of color. Atmospheric and elemental, her paintings are inspired by form and flux of urban and natural environments. Conceptually, her canvases focus on perception of time and space, looking at transitions and boundaries through the painting process. Donna Bruni grew up in Yardley, Pennsylvania, spending summers on the Atlantic coast. She studied graphic design at Endicott College and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She began her career in the arts as a graphic designer in New York City in the pre-digital age of advertising and publishing. She holds a B.A. Degree from the University of Minnesota in Visual Art and Healing. As art curator at University of Minnesota’s Mill City Clinic, Bruni collaborates with diverse Minnesota artsists in community wellness initiatives, through three visual art exhibitions per year. Paintings by Donna Bruni are held in public and private collections throughout the United States. Color, energy and emotion are the foundation of my visual style and painting process. I love the fluid materiality of oil paint and the process of transforming two-dimensional surfaces into dynamic, layered compositions through interaction of color, form and line. My paintings blend elements of nature with abstraction as a means to create visual poetry.
