Del Pelson

Del Pelson is a four-piece indie/alternative group based out of South Florida, combining catchy indie-pop melodies with the power of alternative rock. Formed in early 2015, singer/songwriter Cal Nelson and drummer Garrett Kealer met while performing together in a jazz quintet at Florida Atlantic University. Bassist Nathaniel Spiner was then introduced through Garrett, spawning the initial trio of the band. After a year of writing, tracking, and gigging, the trio sought to expand and added Douglas De Jong on guitar and Patrick Montanari on keyboard. Del Pelson released their self-titled debut EP on November 19th, 2016. The release includes three studio tracks as well as six tracks recorded live (as a trio) at Critical Sound Studio in Miami, FL. Del Pelson features Peyote Coyote’s Ryan Huseman on lap steel on the single “Hold Me.” The EP was engineered by Del Pelson and Alvaro Marin, self-produced and mixed by Del Pelson, and mastered by Ian Mercel.
Del Pelson has since been featured in 104.3 The Shark’s Open Swim Podcast Series with Erin Lee, Miami New Times, PureHoney Magazine, Soundbite Magazine, Imaginary Radio Network, and more. In the Summer of 2016, Del Pelson provided local support for bands such as Young the Giant, Joywave, Jr. Jr., and Bear Hands at 104.3 The Shark’s Undertow Jam 2016. Following the success of their debut EP, the group began production of their second EP, Wide World, in December of 2016 their first as a five piece. Shortly before the end of it’s recording, the group came to the mutual decision to amicably split with guitarist Douglas De Jong. The Wide World EP is now available on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, and Youtube. Wide World was self-produced by Del Pelson, engineered by Del Pelson, Nick Romanelli, and Paul Spirou, and mixed and mastered by Joel Iglesias. Del Pelson continues to perform regularly around their home-base in South Florida as a quartet and has plans for future releases.
