Shaun Keylock

Shaun KeylockShaun Keylock is a performance-based artist, choreographer, dancer, and educator born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He began his formal dance training at Pacific University, where he received his B.A. in Dance and Art History under the tutelage of Jennifer Camp. Keylock was a founding member of Muddy Feet Contemporary Dance (Portland) and has performed original works by Carla Mann, Luke Gutgsell, Lauren Edson, James Healey, and Josie Moseley. In 2015 and 2016, Keylock received scholarships to further his training with the José Limón Dance Company in California and New York, where he was honored to perform works by Colin Connor and José Limón.
In addition to his performance credits, Keylock has taught dance throughout Oregon and Washington and has served as a guest teacher and faculty member at several universities and schools, including Pacific University, Center for Movement Arts, University of Oregon, The Portland Ballet, Columbia Dance, and BodyVox Dance Center. In 2018, Keylock founded Shaun Keylock Company to encompass his ongoing interest in fields both beyond and in dialogue with dance. The company creates unique works of contemporary performance that are at once both technically sound and radicallyShaun Keylock subversive, often exploring the many facets of LGBT and queer identity.
The company’s most recent choreographic commission was created at Pacific University and presented at the American College Dance Association’s Northwest Conference. Most recently, Keylock was a recipient of a 2018 Artist Residency at New Expressive Works in Portland, Oregon, which supports artistic excellence in the creation of new dance works by local choreographers and movement artists.
