Megan Bee

Singer-songwriter Megan Bee writes with an unquenchable wanderlust and a raw love for the land. Her latest studio album Like a Canyon (2017) claims both The Ohio Music Awards 2017 Best Americana and Best Singer-Songwriter Album. With folk-Americana roots, she blends a distinctly homespun voice over an acoustic simplicity. Her lyrics continue to carry that yearning soulfulness and winsome storytelling that filled her first release, A Sense of Place (2015)
Megan’s background as an environmental educator and traveling farmhand once took her into a desert wilderness where she first found her voice around a campfire. That intimacy and sense of community around a campfire emerges through in her writing and performance as a unique perspective and slice of Americana for the wandering soul and nature-lover in us all. Megan bases out of the rolling hills of Athens, Ohio and frequently roams the country playing festivals, coffeehouses, brewpubs, house concerts, and around campfires.
Previous to her solo career, Megan fronted the trio Wormz and the Decomposers whose album Grow (2014) won an Ohio Music Award for Americana Album of the year. She continues to collaborate with other musicians such as the Mountain Stage Band who accompany her on her Like a Canyon album. Singer-songwriter Joe Stevens from Coyote Grace is also featured on both solo albums, and they frequently share the stage as a duo.
