Mary MeyerDriven by materiality and process, Mary Meyer’s work is strongly influenced by a background in traditional stone carving and foundry casting methods. Her wall panels and installations carry explorations of form comprised of various media– wood, paper, wax, ceramic, sand– with an emphasis on reflective components such as metal castings, found objects, and graphite surface treatments. Originally from the Midwest, she works full time from her studio near Phoenix, Arizona, her home for over 20 years.Mary Meyer
She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University, and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona, where she received the MFA Fellowship. Mary Meyer is a recipient of the George M. Cullough Award, presented at the Tucson Museum of Art’s Arizona Biennial in 2007. In 2016, she received the Contemporary Forum Artists Grant through the Phoenix Art Museum, and was recognized as one of the city’s 100 Creatives by Phoenix New Times. Her work is exhibited nationally and internationally, and is represented in numerous private collections.
