Jacob Galván

Jacob GalvánJacob Galván was born April 9th, 1992 in Harlingen, a small Texan town in the Rio Grande valley. Although he was not exposed to any type of music education until the sixth grade, Jacob took quickly to percussion after joining the local school band. As a teen, Jacob taught himself how to play the guitar, piano, sing, and also furthered his development in percussion. After graduating high school, Jacob became a student at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX where he studied Pharmacy and Chemistry for one year. Knowing that music was his true calling, Jacob moved closer to his home and enrolled at TAMU-CC in the Fall of 2011.
After four years of intense study and practice under the direction of Arlene Long and Dr. Richard McDonald (TAMU-CC), Jacob became one of the best musicians and the best composer in his department. After graduating from TAMU-CC in May of 2015, Jacob now composes and conducts large scale works for chamber ensembles, orchestra, piano, organ, and choir. His works have been featured in a variety of venues throughout CorpusJacob Galván Christi. He has recently won a composer’s competition sponsored by the Corpus Christi Symphony Guild, and wrote and conducted music for a local fashion show. Jacob currently lives in Corpus Christi, where he continues to write music, practice the organ, and actively participate in the music community.
