Sara Sawyer
Sara is a Minneapolis based performer and teacher who moved here in 2015 from a ten year stint living, performing and teaching in New York City. She is originially from Elk River, Minnesota. She has been taking private voice lessons since she was seven years old. Sara attended the MacPhail Center for Music in high school and participated in musicals and plays at theaters all over the state of Minnesota. She also played trumpet and french horn in band and taught herself piano and clarinet along the way. Choir was always a big part of her life as well. She sang solos at All-state choir camp and attended Northern Pines Choir Camp every summer before that. Ms. Sawyer’s first professional performance was the culmination of her year long internship with The Minnesota Opera Company during her senior year of high school. She was in the ensemble for the opera Carmen, and loved every minute of it. Sara then moved from her small town to New York City to attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy on scholarship. Upon graduation she started working right away in theater. She earned her equity card in 2008 and is now a member of the Actors Equity Association. Sara has since worked in showcases, new work readings, off-broadway, and regionally. Sara began teaching voice lessons early in 2013 and absolutely fell in love. She loves the passion and progression involved in teaching. Right now she likes to specialize with actors/dancers/performers who want to add singing to their resume. She also offers lessons to absolute beginners, children, and singing professionals P.S. Sara also styles hair! Click on the She Styles Hair Too tab up top to see some of the do’s she’s done.
