Donna Heinley
Heinley Fine Arts was first established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1990, and brought the finest quality 19th century French paintings to the American collector. After curating several exhibits in Boston for Vose Galleries and one in New York for Babcock gallery, Heinley opened her own gallery in an elegant townhouse in Boston’s Back Bay. She found her special niche in the sale of French Barbizon landscapes and developed a loyal clientele for these works, selling both the masters and their students, while achieving international recognition as an expert in this field. In 1997, Heinley was invited to New Mexico by a friend and this visit changed her life. She was captivated by the land and soon after built her dream home on the Rio Grande River. She divided her time between Boston, Paris, and Taos for many years until the spring of 2011. Then, she finally packed up her things and moved to Taos. Her gallery on historic Bent Street is the result of years of planning and dreaming about how to combine her love of New Mexico with her passion for collecting and selling fine art. Taos was the first art colony in America’s west and still has the unspoiled charm and rugged beauty that attracted the first settlers and artists. For this reason, Heinley chose to open her gallery here rather than Santa Fe. The great history of the Taos Founders, the early Moderns, and the third wave of post-war Taos Moderns has always fascinated Ms Heinley. Her goal will be to provide the public with examples of these great artists, as well as showing the best contemporary work of artists living and working in New Mexico. As always, the gallery will offer museum quality works that appeal to both the sophisticated collector as well as those who are just beginning. When buying a work of art, Heinley advises her clients to trust themselves and simply allow the work to speak to them. She believes that the most important function of collecting art should be to inspire and enhance our lives. It is primarily an investment in one’s lifestyle; but with the guidance and support of a seasoned art professional, these works may also be a valuable financial investment that increases as the years go by. Heinley Fine Arts will always stand behind any works sold and will gladly take anything back on consignment for resale. We have done this for years with collectors of our european masters and hope to continue this tradition.
