Caitlin Tarver
Caitlin Tarver is a classically trained, multi-faceted cellist with broad-reaching playing styles and an extensive resume of traditional and nontraditional cello performances. While continuing to pursue classical performing and teaching opportunities, she has also established herself as a contemporary and innovative performer on both traditional and electric cello in other genres of music such as pop, contemporary, jazz and hip hop.
Studying under the tutelage of world renowned cellist Dr. Natalia Khoma, Caitlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cello Performance from the College of Charleston (Charleston, SC) where she was a four-year recipient of the Kite Scholarship in strings. Her years of professional solo and ensemble performances include a 2011 classical orchestra performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City and pop performances with recording artist George Benson and the North Charleston Pops Orchestra in 2014, a stage cellist in three Michael Buble concerts on his 2013 world tour & most recently, a featured solo pop performance at Cipriani 42nd St in New York City.
Showcasing her passion for innovation and improvisation along with generating over 9 million YouTube views, Caitlin has recorded unique classical covers of pop songs “Say Something” by A Great Big World, accompanied by Pianist Maximilian Mross, “Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Rey and “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons.
Not only a performer, Caitlin has taught private classical cello lessons to students of all ages for over 10 years. Her newest offering is Skype lessons. For the past 2 years students from other states without access to a local cello instructor have taken advantage of this unique opportunity for live one-on- one lessons via the internet.
