Nicole Marriott has been the principle oboist in numerous ensembles, which has given her wonderful opportunities to perform across the United States and in several foreign countries. She has played in a wide variety of ensembles such as symphonies, concert bands, smaller ensembles, in pit orchestra and soloing with choruses. It was a particular honor to participate in the International Mozart Festival in Austria. Nicole is a member of the new Salt Lake Pops Studio Orchestra, the Utah Wind Symphony, and a substitute oboist for the Utah Symphony. Mrs. Marriott has had the privilege of studying under great mentors such as Holly Gornik, Bob Stephenson and Martin Schuring. She is currently preparing for a professional symphony audition and graduate school auditions on both oboe and English horn.
Lori Shepherd, a Utah Native, recently graduated from the University of Utah with a Master of Music in clarinet performance. She studied clarinet with Christie Lundquist (former principal clarinet of the Utah Symphony), Kathy Pope (Utah Chamber Orchestra), and Lee Livengood (Utah Symphony), and has participated in master classes with Alan Kay, Michael Webster, and Laura Flax. Although her degrees are in classical clarinet performance, her experience spans a wide range of musical styles including jazz, musical theater, salsa, and chamber music. She has performed in many varied venues, ranging from the Orange Bowl in Orlando to Carnegie Hall in New York. She is a woodwind specialist with extensive experience on clarinet, bass clarinet, and saxophones. In her more than 20 years of performance, she as played with noted musicians such as John Fedchock, Marvin Stamm, Ed Soph, Jason Ham, Ray Smith, Beppi D’Amato, Jeff Jarvis, Michael Barrett, and Fredrick Fennell.
Elizabeth Ball Crawford is the Principal Bassoonist of the Great Falls Symphony Association in Great Falls, Montana. Previously a freelance musician in Salt Lake City, UT. Originally a native of upstate New York she began her training on piano and bassoon in the Eastman School of Music preparatory division. She went on to finish high school at Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied bassoon with Barrick Stees. Elizabeth completed her bachelor’s in performance from Manhattan School of Music, a student of Whitney Crockett and a Masters degree from the University of Utah, a student of Lori Wike. She went on to serve for several years in the Army Band program playing for audiences all over the U.S., South Korea, and still continues to serve part time with the 23rd Army Band in Utah. Elizabeth is an active free lance musician who has performed as a bassoonist and contrabassoonist with many ensembles in the greater Salt Lake area. She can be heard on recordings with KBYU-TV, Albany Records, and Querstand. Her latest project is as co-founder of the Utah Wind Symphony, a select ensemble of professional wind and percussion players, which has garnered much attention from Salt Lake City’s vibrant musical community.
