Colleen Cosgrove
I first fell in love with moving paint around when I was in kindergarten and discovered finger-painting. As a child I filled dozens of sketchbooks, learning as I did how to “see” and developing keen drawing skills. In high school I was introduced to oil painting, and I knew I had found my medium. Attending the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul while attaining my BFA in Illustration was a period of more artistic growth, experimentation, and extreme creativity. When I graduated, fine art had to move to the back burner as entered the workforce as a production artist. As an adult, I
spent decades as a graphic artist and photo retoucher, but continued to hone my skills as a painter whenever and wherever I could. I developed my personal style, experimented with large sized works, entered juried shows, and refined my sense of color and composition. Most recently, I have been embracing plein air and alla prima painting, capturing a scene in one session, either from life or from my own reference materials.
