Amber Velvet
I’m Amber Velvet (Yes! That’s my middle name). I am so happy you stopped by! For 28 years, I have counted it an honor and a blessing to be chosen by clients throughout the Metro Detroit area to style the events of their dreams. Although The Velvet Touch Events launched in 2001, I have had the pleasure of styling
beautiful events since my undergrad days in college. In a few words, I am a fun-loving, Type A, floral scissor toting creative who enthusiastically uses both sides of my brain. A proud native Detroiter and 70s baby, I was raised by two parents who believed in hard work, education and following your dreams. At the age of 12, I loved math and science as well as working with my hands, so I set my sights on a career in Engineering. With my parents support and encouragement, I attended every engineering program in the Detroit area throughout middle and high school. This led to a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering and a professional certification in Program Management. Although I have a love for engineering and program management, my other true loves are floral and styling events. I get an overwhelming sense of accomplishment when our client’s eyes light up when they enter a room we’ve designed. It is one of the main reasons why I love what I do! Making people happy is everything to me. Above all, I am a lover of God, a proud wife and mother of 3 who constantly encourage and support my creative side. I am convinced that chocolate heals all wounds, I fall asleep to the soothing sounds of HGTV, Project Runway gives me LIFE, I am The Spray Paint QUEEN, I LOVE a candle lit room, I adore anything velvet and I believe, with all my heart, that the only place fluorescent lighting should be allowed is in a garage. Although my favorite color is black, I have a secret obsession with green. I am also a wanna-be interior designer who may need to seek help for the amount of time and money I spend at Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. I believe in being unapologetically true to myself, setting trends instead of following them and styling events that have never been seen before.
