Matthew Peterson

Hailing from the plains of NE Colorado, Matthew Peterson is an up and coming Baritone acclaimed for his rich voice and expressive acting ability. Matthew’s budding career has shown great promise, as he recently placed as the top male singer in the 2016 Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition. Possessing an impressively versatile voice, he has performed leading roles in opera, musical-theatre, and straight plays as well as recording in a wide variety of musical styles. Matthew made his operatic premiere as Benoit & Alcindoro while understudying Marcello in La Boheme for the Boulder Symphony. In the spring of 2016, he sang Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte with the University of Denver, with he also toured to a packed theatre in York, PA. Last summer, Matthew had the honor of performing in the title role of Don Giovanni as well as Silvio in Leoncavallo’s i Pagliacci as a part of Opera in the Ozarks’ Emerging Artist program. In the coming months Matthew will perform as Belcore in Boulder Opera Companies’ L’elisir d’Amore in addition to his third Mozart/Da Ponte role as Figaro in the Boulder Symphony’s Le nozze di Figaro. Matthew received his undergraduate degree from Colorado Christian University studying under baritone Steven Taylor, and is currently pursuing a M.M. from the University of Denver with renowned tenor Matthew Plenk and bass Ken Cox.
