Krista Aasland

Krista AaslandKrista Aasland began her music career at Boise State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music, Magna Cum Laude. She was then offered a teaching assistantship at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and received her Master of Music in Flute Performance degree. While in Las Vegas, she performed in shows at the Venetian Resort and Casino and for new music series such as NEXTET and NEON. She premiered several pieces with various chamber ensembles, including the world premiere of Shadowings by Mathew Schreibeis, and one of the first performances, including the Oregon premiere, of Arirang by Kye Ryung Park.
Krista moved to Portland, OR where she performed with the Clairvoyance Duo (flute and soprano) and as a freelance soloist and chamber musician. She held positions as the St. Andrew Children’s Choir Director and Flutist in the St. Mathew Cantata Orchestra while studying choral and elementary music education at Portland State University. Outside of live performances, Krista can be heard as the principal flutist on The Quest, recorded by Klavier Records, and several recordings with the Boise State University Symphonic Winds. In 2012, Krista returned to Bend (her hometown – Go Lava Bears!) when she was offered a position as the Executive Assistant for the Central Oregon Symphony Association (COSA). Eureka House of Metal
Krista has since been promoted to the Administrator for COSA. Krista currently performs in musical productions with Thoroughly Modern Productions, Shore Thing Productions and Stage Right Productions where she plays Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet and Saxophone and in several chamber music ensembles including the Central Oregon Chamber Orchestra and OperaBend. She is the Flute Instructor and a member of the Piano Faculty at the Cascade School of Music where she teaches all levels of private flute lessons, beginning level one and two private piano lessons, group piano classes and summer music camp classes.
