JULIE MARRIOTTJulie, a painter, pattern enthusiast, wife and mom living in beautiful San Diego, CA. Julie is crazy for cheerful color, intricate patterns, and lots and lots of painterly florals!
Her passion is to bring joyful creativity to one’s space. She believes that life is so much sweeter when we have a personal connection to the objects in our homes, whether many or few. She also believes that the art on our walls can and should feel like cherished friends. Her passion is to make work that is bright and joyful, and that spreads this attitude of beautiful optimism to those who invite her art into their homes.
Creating is a necessary part of her life. In between keeping up with her busy two-year-old daughter, one’ll find her in her home studio making paintings, designing patterns, and generally making a creative mess. Julie’s art satisfies an inner need of herself like a gasp of breath. It leaves her feeling refreshed, fulfilled and satisfied. Mixing juicy new colors on her palette, putting a brush-full of wet paint to canvas, sketching ideas in a notebook with her favorite soft pencil. Each physical act of making something new feeds her soul with excitement and purpose.
She is so thankful that this is her journey. As a new mother, Julie discovered that the roles of artist and mom compliment and balance one another in wonderfully unexpected ways. Rather than becoming unmotivated by overwhelm, she actually became more driven to make her art and sees it grow in new directions. This personal art-making time, where the challenges facing her are so creatively different from her day-to-day tasks, recharges her ability to care for her family and feel happy and present. Embracing both her roles as mother and art-maker brings such fulfillment to her life and makes her feel more deeply human.
