JASMINE COMMERCE
Jasmine was born in the backseat of a Volkswagon bus. Ok, almost. Born in Seattle, WA, to young, artistic, hippie parents travelling throughout the United States, Jasmine was exposed to music in utero. When peace and love weren’t enough to pay the bills, her parents packed 6 month-old baby Jasmine, and her 2 year-old brother, and headed back to Virginia, from whence they came, to be around family, and to try and make a more stable life for the kids. Jasmine’s earliest memories include sitting at her father’s feet while he made up ridiculous songs on guitar, designed to elicit eye-rolls/deep belly laughs/arm punches, and listening to her long-haired mother whistle through her gorgeous gap-toothed smile, while painting with watercolors in the kitchen.
Fast forward a couple of decades, a college degree, and a beautiful daughter of her own, Jasmine left Virginia to explore the west coast, for the first time as a “grown up”. 9 years later, she continues to reside in California, where she works as a full-time musician. She has shared the stage with talents like Joss Stone, Natasha Bedingfield, Matt Costa and Abigail Washburn, and has recorded her original music with Sean Watkins (of Nickel Creek), Sony ATV’s “Hickory Records”, and L.A.’s indie label, “Cleopatra Records”.
Jasmine has won several songwriting awards, like Nine West’s “Vintage Voices” National Songwriting Competition, SD County’s Singer/Songwriter Contest, and Sophie 103.7’ FM’s Songwriting Contest. Jasmine has released 2 independent EPs, available on iTunes.
