Deborah Taylor
Deborah considers herself to be a contemporary impressionist painter. One of her favorite studios is the great outdoors. She specializes in plein air landscape painting as well as still life paintings from set ups at her home studio or studio at the Blue Studio at Studios Underground in Arlington, VA. Her artistic journey has taken her on several paths. Early, she was interested in craft/sculpture and working with tools. She took a break from creative pursuits to follow a career outside of art as well as for child rearing. For the past ten or more years she has become obsessed with oil painting. Painting guides her in looking at the world with intention.
One path that has been especially rewarding for her is to paint small and often. She initially painted daily and then wrote about the process on a blog. She has since abandoned the blog (after almost two years) and now have become more flexible in her painting practice. She sometimes paints abstracts in acrylic, has loved her involvement with encaustics but always return to her true calling – small intimate oil paintings. She is inspired by many things, a flower, sun on an old pick up truck, bright red bell peppers or hills on a foggy day. She is a member and former board member of both The Art League and the Arlington Artists Alliance. Her work can be seen at several venues through the region, in private collections and online.
