Andrea Veal

Andrea Veal (soprano) received an MA in music history and a BA in vocal performance from the University of New Hampshire. She has performed with the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, Melopeo, and Capella Alamire, among others. She can be heard on the Dünya label CD, “The Language of the Birds,” and regularly appears on Musicians of Wall Street concerts at the Concord Community Music School. She is the soloist at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Portsmouth, NH.
Her solo oratorio work includes Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. John Passion, Mozart’s Mass in C Major and Regina Coeli, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Rutter’s Requiem, and Schubert’s Mass in G, among others. Opera roles include Serpina in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona and Una della Ingrate in Monteverdi’s Il Ballo della Ingrata, as well as extensive scene work in recital. Aside from opera and art song, Andrea also performs bluegrass and Americana music. Andrea directs the Andrea Veal Voice Studio in Rochester, NH, and is also on the the faculties of the Concord Community Music School and UNH’s Summer Youth Music School. She held the office of President of the Granite State chapter of NATS for eight years, and is the currently the chapter’s webmaster and a Vice President of NATS Student Auditions, as well as the NH/VT District Governor. Andrea is an experienced and accomplished teacher committed to fostering musical talent in every student.
She has taught young beginners, high school students, college music majors, pre-professional singers, and adults. She has adjudicated for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA), and the New Hampshire Music Educators Association (NHMEA). Her students have played major roles in musical theater productions, participated in All-State chorus, placed in NATS auditions and pop/rock contests, and gone on to major in voice at respected universities.
