Alyce Tarver

Alyce TarverAlyce Tarver is a recent graduate from the University of Memphis with her Masters in Vocal Pedagogy, where she studied with Professor Susan Owen-Leinert. Alyce is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a piano minor. She began learning piano and voice from age 5. Alyce is the soprano section leader at Idlewild Presbyterian Church in Midtown, Memphis. While at Idlewild, she has been the soprano soloist in J. S. Bach’s “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit” and “Christ lag in Todesbanden”.
She has sung as Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief (Aveiro, Portugal), Mimi in La Bohème, Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors. At Louisiana Tech University, Alyce received the Virginia Thompson, Ben Laney Memorial and La Verne E. Irvine Scholarships based on vocal achievement and academic performance. Alyce was named as a semi-finalist at Regional NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Competition. Most recently, Alyce was cast in the University of Memphis Opera production “The Beggar’s Opera” by Benjamin Britten as Polly Peachum (2015) and Adele in their production of “Die Fledermaus” (2016) by Johann Strauss II. Alyce also participated in multiple masterclasses with renowned clinicians during her studies. She has coached with Mark Ensley and Mignon Dunn. Alyce also had the opportunity to perform with Opera Memphis in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance” as one of General Stanley’s daughters (2017).
