Sassy Kay
Born in the middle of the country, in the middle of the last century & yearning to move west, Kay settled in Monterey, Ca in 1973, where she resides with her husband, Michael & their dog Sassy. The artist has worked in retail most of her life & co-owned a very successful gift & home décor store for many years using her Bachelor Degree in Interior Design. Kay has practiced art in various forms always searching for that perfect expression of creativity.
In 2008 she took her first metal arts class & has continued to learn & pursue her passion. The artist has high praise for the Monterey Peninsula College Metal Arts department which creates a supportive & enriching program for its students. Kay is also a
member of Monterey Bay Metal Arts Guild. Two stores in California currently represent her work under the name of Sassy Kay Designs to maintain her “addiction” to stones & tools.
“This late in life passion of mine keeps me in the creative flow of life. Each piece I design reflects my response to the myriad colors & designs nature endows each stone in my collection. The creative process feeds me just as much as knowing my designs excite my collectors. It’s a life dance we do, I create & they enjoy!”
