Sarah Massengale
Sarah Massengale graduated from Converse College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. Throughout her college years, Massengale studied voice with Dr. Valerie MacPhail and has since continued to study with Mrs. Felicia Torres of Carolina Music Academy and with Mrs. Deborah Severance, formerly of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus. She is also a proud graduate of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville South Carolina.
Sarah has been a sought after recitalist throughout the state of South Carolina, performing for local clubs and charitable organizations, as well as for organizations such as the South Carolina School Board Association and the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina. She has also been featured, on the national level, as a performer at the National School Board Association convention in Orlando, Florida. During her time at Converse, Ms. Massengale also received roles in both opera and theater productions, including Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Menotti’s The Medium, and a Theater Converse production loosely based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. In addition, Ms. Massengale has participated in competitive singing, taking top honors in competitions such as that held by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
Sarah prides herself in creating programs that offer an audience exposure to a wide range of musical styles and periods and seeks, through interaction, to impart to her audiences an enjoyment and love of the classical music they may not find as familiar.
