They offer a full line of Glass Art classes along with all the supplies you would need to create your own wonderful works of art. They also do custom jobs as well as stained glass repairs. Stained Glass started as a hobby for Phil as he was recovering from a Devastating motorcycle accident in October 1971.
It was a way to pass the time and take his mind his long recovery period. Little did he know, it would turn into a lucrative business and a rewarding career. He would travel the country, meet many interesting people, appear on television, find his story in print, and teach this wonderful art to hundreds of grateful students. In September of 1972, Phil enrolled in Consumes River College and took a Stained Glass class in order to sharpen his skills in this medium he had begun to love.
In 1977 he attended the famous PILCHUCK Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. In the 80’s Phil worked with Boyce Lundstrum at Camp Colton the fusing camp. Knowing this would be his career path, Phil opened Rainbow Glass at its first location in the Country Club Plaza shopping Center. Realizing his dream, the retail store not only sold product for making your own art pieces, it offered custom stained glass windows and doors, custom sand blasted pieces and a variety of classes. Glass glow is the name of a line of custom kilns designed and built by Phil and has been shipped all over the world. Business went well and Phil realized he needs a larger store. In 1976, the new location of Rainbow Glass is at Auburn and Madison Avenues. Its here he met his future wife Hazel who came in for a class and was in Phil’s life from then to now. With the two joining forces, Rainbow continued to grow and move at its current location since 1977.
