Moon Light
Moon Light is the Oliverson family, called “The most talented and entertaining family since the Osmonds” by L.A. Talk Radio. Hailed as a “Modern Mozart” Moon Light features Aubree Oliverson–the 2017 winner of the prestigious Dorothy DeLay Memorial Fellowship Violin Competition at the Aspen Music Festival. Aubree was also a 2016 Presidential Scholar in the Arts and a YoungArts National Winner for Violin Performance from over 12,000 applicants nationwide. Aubree has appeared on National Public Radio’s popular program From The Top four times, and was guest soloist at their year end Gala in Boston.
Aubree made her solo debut with the Utah Symphony at age eleven, made her Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall at age twelve, and at thirteen performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto to multiple standing ovations in a return engagement with the Utah Symphony. Aubree won both the American Protege International Strings Competition and Southwest States Division of the Music Teachers National Association Strings Competition, and was recognized with a Best-of-State Award as Utah’s Top Entertainer—all by the age of thirteen. She was a multiple Utah Symphony Salute-to-Youth winner and a Utah Stradivarius Competition winner, and finalist in the Strulberg International Strings Competition.
Aubree has won numerous concerto competitions and has soloed with a wide variety of music ensembles including the Millennial Choir & Orchestra, San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra, Pasadena Orchestra, Topanga Symphony, Burbank Philharmonic, Colburn Orchestra, American Youth Symphony, Salt Lake Pops, Utah Chamber Artists, Culver City Symphony Orchestra, San Bernadino Symphony, and featured at the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute and the Innsbrook Summer Concert Series in Missouri. This year Aubree has traveled to England to participate in the International Musicians Seminar, selected for the Music Masters Course in Japan, and was featured in the Rising Stars Concert in the Florida Keys.
Proclaimed in numerous articles and publications as one of music’s most exciting young performers, Aubree has recently performed in venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., New World Center, Sundance Film Festival, Salt Palace, Royce Hall, and she has traveled to over 100 schools throughout the western United States, motivating and inspiring thousands of children to work hard and participate in music, and was a featured speaker and performer at the 2017 National Title I Education Convention. She is also a state and national award winning composer—recognized twice by the New York Arts Ensemble as a “composer of great promise.” Aubree has co-composed and recorded seven acclaimed CD albums, and has been featured in several award-winning music videos.
Aubree is an active chamber musician, performing Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with Curtis Institute faculty member Joseph Silverstein in 2013, and collaborating with artists such as Stefan Jackiw, Robert McDuffie, Finckel/Wu Han, and the Calidore String Quartet, among others. Aubree was Concertmaster for the Gifted 
Music School Orchestra of Salt Lake City for two years, and at age fifteen was one of only a select few pre-college students throughout the world invited to attend the Colburn Music Academy in Los Angeles—where through competitive audition she won the position of Concertmaster for the Colburn Virtuosi Orchestra, and served in that position for two years until her high school graduation. Aubree currently studies with Robert Lipsett—the Jascha Heifetz Distinquished Violin Chair at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where she is in her sophomore year at the Colburn Conservatory of Music. Besides her many musical endeavors, Aubree was a highly successful competetive swimmer, skiing, reading, linguistics, travel, and spending time with friends and family. Besides his awards and recognitions as a pianist, composer, and producer, Dr. Stephen Oliverson was a collegiate and all-state athlete, a distinguished military officer and graduate, and is also an award-winning educator including Principal-of-the-Year, National Distinguished School Principal, and the Utah Huntsman Excellence-In-Education Award winner. Stephen and Aubree’s music has been featured on stage and radio, and they have performed in hundreds of venues from Seattle to Washington D.C., which locally include the Sundance Film Festival, Salt Palace, Gardner Hall, BYU Education Week, Gallivan Center, and Temple Square.
Moon Light has several beautifully produced music videos on their YouTube channel, three having reached the top ten on video music charts. Stephen’s two youngest children, Andrew (16) and Lily (13) are also excellent musicians and join their sister and father in many Moon Light productions. Andrew and Lily have both won awards for composition and were both part of a select students
few from South, Central, and North America chosen to participate in Suzuki Youth Orchestra of the Americas in Minneapolis. Lily and Andrew are members of the Gifted Music School of Salt Lake City, where Andrew has been a soloist and recently received a superior rating at the State High School Association Music Festival. Locally, Moon Light has performed at the Salt Palace, Gallivan Center, BYU Education Week, Temple Square, Sundance Film Festival, Gardner Hall, and The Oliverson family has performed in over 100 schools throughout the intermountain West, motivating and inspiring children to work hard and participate in music. “An exceptional musical team!” (Ed Reichel, Reichel Recommends).
