Marilyn Biles
Marilyn Biles’s work is abstract oil on canvas. Her art embodies inspiration, spirituality, meditation and self-expression. Every painting is “a new research project done in the unproved present, creating symbols from experiences that express myself as I contact and am inspired by the world.” A native of Wilmington, Delaware she commenced her education at the Moore College of Art, St. Mary’s College and the University of Delaware.
She continued her studies, after moving to Houston, TX in 1965 at the Museum of Fine Art’s Glassell School and Rice University. She has also been an educator to students at the Contemporary Art Museum and Duchesne Academy. Biles has worked extensively in the community. She has served on the board of the Houston Grand Opera Guild, chaired multiple charity galas, founded the Pavilion Gallery at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church and served as the Curator/Co-Founder of the EDOT Gallery at the Episcopal Diocese of Texas Diocesan Center through January 2011. She has been an Industry Partner of the American Society of Interior Designers since 2007. In 2009, Biles was honored with the Arts in the Community Award from the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
