Kilty Town
Kilty Town is steeped in traditional Irish music, but it’s the diversity of the music that causes the group to stand apart from just another session group performing session standards. The music is driven by multi-instrumentalist, Dan Engle, who plays the Octave Mandolin as well as fiddle, guitar and mandolin. Many of the tunes recorded on the KT album are composed by Dan. Nic Caciappo who resides in the Sierra foothills of Sonora plays the Irish drum, the bodhran, and began playing after first falling for Norwegian folk music. Mix all these diverse backgrounds and instruments and it makes for a delightful recipe for tunes with fiery spark and energy. traditional country singer Michael Martin Murphey (“Wildfire”), Annbjørg Lien, Norway’s best known folk musician on Hardanger fiddle, legendary keyboardist for the British band Yes, Rick Wakeman, guitarist Ray Frank from Sacramento area, as well as other friends and guests. The album was produced by Tim Morse.
