Duncan Hughes
Based in Boston, Duncan Hughes Interiors is an award-winning interior design firm that is synonymous with timeless but forward-thinking designs that cater to the unique aesthetic and functional needs of each client, whether traditional, modern, or commercial. From the recent refurbishment of a historic Richard Morris Hunt mansion, to contemporary properties for actress Katherine Heigl, New England Patriot Julian Edelman and illustrious private clients throughout the United States, Hughes is renowned for his eye for layered architectural detail and penchant for elegant, provocative, yet eminently livable interiors.
Hughes is committed to working closely with each client, and often their architects and builders, to allow for a collaborative process that is focused, fun, and creative. His signature is found in the balancing of architectural form and perspective with refined furnishings, fabrics, and carefully chosen objects. Hughes is celebrated by the press, design blogs, and devoted clientele for his broad understanding of form and scale, his spaces praised for their sophisticated and unexpected palettes of color, texture and light.
Trained in architecture, he spent years collaborating with other designers before launching his own interior design firm in Boston in 2003. The impressive scope of his completed projects over the past decade includes properties and spaces throughout the Boston area, Newport, New York City, Utah, and Los Angeles. Committed to giving back to the community, his pro-bono work includes projects for The Franciscan Hospital for Children, More Than Words Foundation, and Project Place. He has also acted as Thesis Critique Judge and Advisor at the New England School of Art and Design, Graduate Degree Program.
Whether updating a single room, developing a restaurant, renovating a kitchen, or implementing all aspects of a client’s ultimate home, Duncan Hughes Interiors appreciates the desire for extraordinary personal service, creative thinking, attention to detail, and a distinctive living environment.
