Carol Vogel
Award winning, classical still life and portrait painter, Carol Vogel is known for her realistic and expressive paintings. Paintings that dance with energy, color, and form with a remembrance for the classical style of the old masters best describe Carol’s interest and painting style. Carol especially enjoys painting portraits of people and pets and bringing their spirit to life on canvas. A love of collecting vintage glass and ceramics inspire her still life paintings along with a passion for travel to international locations. Her still life paintings reflect a mood and feeling often with lush pattern backgrounds, vivid color, and unusual combination of supports and collectible items. Humanitarianism combined with a love of people inspire her pastel, oil, and pencil portraits. There is a depth of beauty in every face that reflects an inner soul. Capturing the inner soul is an inborn ability for her that is reflected in her representational and expressive portrait paintings.
In 1994 Carol moved to the foothills of Rappahannock County, Virginia to pursue a lifelong dream of living in the ambient countryside. A river meandered through the lower meadows of her property making it a perfect site to paint the scenic landscape and figure in the landscape. Partnering with The Art League School of Alexandria, VA. She set up and hosted art workshops. In addition she held weekly classes and portrait and still life painting workshops in her teaching studio.
A few years later she starting hosting international painting workshops. In 2002 she moved back to the Washington, D.C. area to expand her art career and event business.
Her extensive travel all over Europe, the South Pacific, Canada, the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and Alaska has served to inspire her still life, portrait, and figurative work. She works from her home studio located in Germantown, Maryland.
