Christie has her own signature way of painting Nature and it’s empowering energy! Christie feels her deepest connection to our creator and her faith through nature. Her favorite subjects are the beauty of nature found in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe. Christie was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe California/ Nevada and while growing up Christie’s family would go on trips to the islands of Hawaii. She feels that Lake Tahoe and Hawaii have a spiritual connection that is Yin Yang in climate, but same in energy. The love for that beauty and healing spirit are both deeply rooted in Christie’s soul and art. From 16-27 yrs old Christie Marie was blessed with an eleven year career as a professional snowboarder (1989-2000). Eight of the years she traveled all over Europe, Japan, Canada, and the United States and consistently ranked within the top eight in the World in Halfpipe and Slopestyle. Christie’s experiences as a traveling professional athlete have immeasurably enriched her life and art, opening her eyes to the eclectic beauty of the world. Christie did a few murals, paintings (one commissioned in Japan), logos and got the pleasure of designing her own graphics for two of her Pro Signature model snowboards during her snowboard career. In the spring and fall she would work in professional tattoo shops tattooing to supplement her income. Summers from June – September Christie would teach snowboarding at the snowboard camps on the glacier on Mt. Hood Oregon. Christie’s snowboarding was published in European, Japanese and American Magazines (even Vogue magazine!), in 4 snowboarding movies, on FOX, ESPN, and many other TV stations around the world covering professional events and in countless newspapers around the world. She was a competitor in all the first snowboarding XGames, Dew Tours, World Cup, World Championships and cutting edge snowboarding events of her time. In 2014 Christie Marie Elder was inducted into the World Legends Hall of Fame for Snowboarding! At age 27 Christie retired from her snowboard and tattoo carriers to start a family. She has been blessed with two boys whom she loves being adventurous with while doing outdoor sports, the creative arts and much more. Her art is published on a few novel book covers and the graphics for a children’s book.
