Bev Darwin

Bev Darwin’s work is a response to the many places she has traveled to and lived in during her life. Whether mixed media, oil, or collage, her images link the physical terrain with associated symbolic, emotional, and psychological fragments. With subject, composition and personal memory, she hopes to touch upon the larger human condition of how we interpret our surroundings.
Darwin’s career in art came late in her life’s journey. After receiving her MD degree from Duke University, she became a board-certified dermatologist and practiced for seven years in Columbus, OH before retiring to raise her family. She then decided to pursue her passion for art at the Columbus College of Art and Design, receiving a BFA degree in 2010. Darwin has exhibited her work at numerous juried shows and has rendered commissioned pieces for private collections. Her artistic accomplishments include a merit scholarship at CCAD, a finalist in the Leo Tolstedt Drawing Competition, an Ohio Arts Council Award at the 2011 Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, and the Renee Steidle Award at the 2013 OAL Spring Juried Show.
